Now is the perfect time to visit orchards or pumpkin patches to harvest your own taste of fall. To many, pumpkin picking is the ultimate symbol of fall.  As we all know, this staple can be used for carving, decorating, making pies, or roasting seeds.
Most orchards allow you to pick your own pumpkins straight from grounds, or from a group of already picked pumpkins.  Many of the orchards have a corn maze for kids, and a snack stand.
A few of the orchards to visit are: Conklin Orchards in Pomona, N.Y., Applewood Orchards & Winery in Warwick, and Overlook Farm Market in Newburgh.
If picking pumpkins is on your itinerary, you may be one of the lucky ones and even run into  "Pig Race" at one of the orchards.
