Major Andre In Tappan

Arguably, the most important event in the long history of the hamlet of Tappan was the trial and execution of Major John Andre.  He was hanged as a spy on October 2, 1780 on top of what is now known as Andre Hill.  It's a great story, with all sorts of twists and turns.  Even though Andre was tried as a spy, the real villain, of course, was the American hero and traitor, Benedict Arnold.  On Monday, September 15 at 10:10 AM, I will be a guest of Claire Sheridan of the Historical Society of Rockland County'on her radio show on WRCR at 1300 on the AM dial .    It will also be streamed live at WRCR.com.  Listeners will be able to phone in with their questions and comments, and I think it will be an interesting segment.  For example:  what happened to one of Major Andre's big toes?  Stay tuned, as the announcers would say.
