Some parents get a little bit pre-occupied with trying to provide their children with the "best" possible start, with exposure to the best resources, and forget their child's needs are really very simple.  This is incredibly the feeling when the topic of socialization and the expertise of childcare workers in child development is raised by mothers who utilize childcare.
Who says, you, as a parent cannot have your child involved with others in a playgroup, swimming lessons, visiting a library and reading books together.  Do you really feel that attending daycare is the only way for a child to develop social skills or readiness for formal schooling?  Many feel one can involve their child in everyday learning opportunities.
What it comes down to is "you pick what suits your lifestyle and your child.
