United Water Continues To Deny Rockland Fishermen Access

The New York City watershed system is considered the finest in the world. A series of reservoirs start in upstate New York and deliver water; via a giant aqueduct; to the millions who inhabit the greatest city on earth. Universally, all people agree NYC water is best!! Many chefs claim NYC water is why we have the best bagels, bread, pizza, and everything else you could ever eat. These pristine bodies of water also have some of the best fishing in New York, with trout, bass, and pan fish galore. Through a carefully monitored system, they allow boating without motors on all of this magnificence. After 9/11, the powers that be decided the best defense the NYC water supply could have against a future terrorist attack were the leagues of fisherman keeping a constant vigilance on this precious resource. My wife and I enjoy many meals of fresh fish each year from one of these beautiful reservoirs in Westchester County. I see loons, eagles, herons, deer, waterfowl, and countless other wildlife every time I fish there.
Oh yea, this was about the evil company United Water. The same that wants a desalination plant! The same that flooded West Nyack twice in the past 10 years and says it’s their right! The same that that says Rockland sportsmen are not responsible enough to boat on their reservoir in West Nyack, Congers, and New City! How and when are we going to wake up and demand this foreign owned utility be responsive to the people it serves. I wish I could justify the expense to drill a well and least not support the company that has NO regard for the people of Rockland.
