More On The Common Core In New York State

I'm writing yet another piece on the Common Core because I'm growing more concerned about it by the day. Again, this is my opinion, but I know I'm far from alone regarding my views.  The Common Core  is an assault on state's rights.  It's an assault on student's rights.  It's an assault on parental rights.  It's an assault and a disservice to those students with an IEP.  There is no place for them in the Common Core.  It's not helping the underprivileged--it's making their chances of success diminish even more.  When you remove the poverty factor, the U.S. is globally high ranking in education.  We are being fed data that is severely skewed in this regard.  We are not buying it. The curriculum dumbs down our students.  It is unproven and untested.  It is driven by businessmen like Bill Gates.  It's a moneymaker for people like Rupert Murdock and companies like Achieve Inc, inBloom and Pearson to name a few.

History reveals that this certainly isn't the first, not will it be the last attempt at education reform.  It is my opinion that this curriculum is, by far, the most dangerous. .  Our children are not common, they don't need to be globally equal.  They are all individuals who learn and grow at their own natural pace.  They are not drones and test pawns for our government to control and play around with.    The curriculum is poorly constructed and the content is very confusing to students and teachers alike.  It's disturbing.   Why has it been shoved down our throats and why so quickly?  Think about it. Why are school districts being strong armed and having their local control taken away?  There is a nationwide outcry and protest against Common Core and everything it encompasses. Moratoriums and program delays are not good enough,  Abolishing the Common Core is what's good enough.  Please, delve deep into the whole picture here, educate yourself. There is a wealth of real, legitimate information out there. Stand up and speak up. Our entire nation of children is depending on us.  Let us not fail them.
