A Leafhopper Hopping Thru Clarkstown

My home here in Valley Cottage has turned into Wild Kingdom over the past few years! I have documented my encounter with a praying mantis, my trials and tribulations at the claws of lawn devouring skunks, how deer eat everything I try to grow plus have actually gone for a swim in my pool, raccoons fighting on my deck at 3am, a coyote running across my front lawn, and the general increase of most wildlife in the suburbs of New York City. I guess it’s just a matter of time until Yogi shows up to rob my picnic basket!
Well we got a treat today, viewing a rarely seen leafhopper. I don’t really know if they are rare or just hard to see, but it was an unbelievably interesting insect to observe. I can see why they certainly blend into almost any tree they might climb.  It can only be described as a “walking leaf”. Attached is the actual picture I took on my deck.
