Image titleOver the past decade or so, the village of Nyack has transformed into a real destination for foodies in the Hudson Valley.  Well you can now add a new eatery to that list.  Only three days old....The Vibes Cafe at 17 North Franklin Street in Nyack offers authentic Caribbean cuisine in a cool, relaxed atmosphere just steps off of main street.

The warm and tropical decor in this cozy space makes one feel like they're in a thatched roof cottage somewhere in Jamaica or St. Lucia.  From the reggae music and caribbean artwork, to the friendly people and home cooking aromas, The Vibes Cafe brings a chill... island vibration to the Nyack scene.

First time restaurant owner and Nyack native Rajeve Sathiyamurthy spent years as a DJ in catering halls and restaurants....but as he was spinning turntables and entertaining the crowds...he was also watching and learning the food business from behind the scenes.  Soaking up the environment around him, he educated himself on how the restaurant business operates and what it takes to be successful.  His wife Celina, who is from Jamaica, brings her own knowledge and experience.  Growing up, her father owned a Jamaican restaurant in Brooklyn.  As husband and wife, business partners and parents of two children in the Nyack schools, Raj and Celina bring a unique fusion of Haitian and Jamaican flavors together, as well as a love and passion for good food.   Their friendly service and warm energy make Vibes Cafe a very cool place to be.

Some of the interesting options from their menu include:  Jerk Chicken, Brown Stew Chicken, Curry Chicken, Oxtail, Curry Goat, Griot-Haitian, Curry Shrimp, Brown Stew Fish of the day, Beef-Chicken-Veggie patties, sweet or savory plantains, coconut infused rice and peas, mushroom infused black rice, wings, marinated chop pork between two tostones (Haiti in a hand), and several other sides and dishes.

I had lunch there today and it was delicious.....and judging by the buzz from the customers and all the satisfied smiles, I think everything at the Vibes Cafe is going to be Irie.
