Phishing Scams

A Nyack friend's son got a call today from the "IRS" to let him know that he "owed $5,000 in back taxes." (Be aware, that the IRS does not make phone calls -- they send letters.) The "IRS agent" who was making the call had a thick foreign accent and told him that he could go to the local drug store and get cash from the ATM and send that to start paying off his "debt." 

Then, I found this blog from AARP and it has some great info in it.

Being aware in today's connected world is a great way to avoid the heartache of falling prey to one of these phishing scams and the resulting identity theft.
