Main St Nyack closed to traffic Monday

ALERT: On Monday, August 8, 2011, Main St in Nyack will be closed. There is a sewer that needs repair in front of Johnny Cakes (aka Skylar Diner). Back at the beginning of June, the Nyack Streetscape Project kicked of their beautification project. Carol Fleischmann, chair of the Streetscape Committee, and Steve Knowlton, Village Trustee, quite literally broke ground by breaking a peice of the sidewalk away. About mid-June the work of re-doing the sidewalks started. The work has progressed down Main St from Franklin toward the water a block at a time. Apparently the company doing the work was chosen because they insured being able to work quickly to prevent any one business from losing much business during this time. Word on the street so far has been that the sidewalks look great. People are wondering about the different patterns in the cement. I bet once it is all done that the different patterns will make more sense. The stones on the edge of the sidwalks are a nice upgrade. Since there is already street work going on near Johnny Cakes, the Orangetown Sewer Department will take advantage of the moment and do the repair work. The work is currently scheduled for Monday, August 8th and the work should be completed in one day.
