Yes, it's that time of year again when homeowners have the opportunity to challenge their property tax bill based upon their home's current tax assessment.
Many people will go to their village halls, such as Nyack, So. Nyack, and Upper Nyack, and they will also go to their prospective town halls in Orangetown and Clarkstown in order to look up their properties and those of their neighbors so they can compare their assessments and try to reduce the amount of taxes that they are paying each year. It can be a tedious process, especially for the average person who doesn't really understand how the system works.
