TRIPLE LANE CLOSURES ON NYS THRUWAY I87I287 ON APRIL 13 AND 14

The three left lanes of the northbound New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) will be closed from exit 9 (Tarrytown – Sleepy Hollow – NY Route 9) to exit 10 (Nyack – South Nyack – Route 9W), including the Tappan Zee Bridge, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the overnights of Monday, April 13 and Tuesday, April 14. One lane will remain open during the closures. The closures are necessary to accommodate road-striping work.

Demolition of Former State Police Facility 
Demolition of the former New York State Police Troop T barracks in Tarrytown will continue during the week of April 13, 2015. The former barracks at 333 South Broadway, which adjoins the former Tappan Zee Bridge maintenance facility, is being removed to facilitate construction of the new bridge. The State Police and bridge maintenance teams have moved from Tarrytown to a temporary home near exit 12 in West Nyack until their new facilities in Tarrytown are completed in 2018. 

Temporary All-Electronic Toll Collection system
Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC (TZC) will continue constructing the Thruway’s temporary all-electronic toll collection system by installing foundations for the overhead gantry on the right side of the southbound Thruway near exit 10 in South Nyack. TZC will drill holes in the soil and rock to create reinforced concrete foundations. Noise levels will be monitored and noise attenuation procedures are in place to reduce impacts on local residents. The work will require closing the right lane of the southbound Thruway near exit 10 (Nyack – South Nyack – Route 9W) between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14; Wednesday April 15; and Thursday, April 16.

River Road in South Nyack
River Road traffic lanes will undergo a slight shift as modifications to the adjacent project work zone are implemented. The adjustments may require reducing River Road to one lane at times. TZC flag persons will direct traffic as needed and additional signage and other safety measures will be in place.
