New City Retreat Lake Lucille

I showed an interesting old house at Lake Lucille this week, and got hooked into the old-fashioned atmosphere that still prevails there! Eighty homes are included in the tight-knit little community that officially started under the Lake Lucille Realty Company in 1927 (the lake is named after the wife of one of the three original developers).A dam was built in 1928, a small store opened in 1930 (it's a residence now), and in 1936 the Lake Lucille Property Owners Association was formed. The private little beach was built through the fundraising efforts of a group of moms in the community in 1960. The sense of community ties continues today. A couple who are involved in the theater has an annual production on their lawn, and the neighbors invite actors, musicians and designers to sleep in their spare bedrooms or camp out in their yards! .
